Baking Soda

Sodium bicarbonate, better known as baking soda, is a great tool to use when cleaning around the house. It is a non-toxic substance that is naturally occurring. Baking soda is used in cooking as well. It is safe to use baking soda all around your house and best of all it is cheap. Look for large boxes next time you are out shopping.

In the Kitchen

Baking soda is useful to have on hand. In the kitchen you can sprinkle some baking soda onto a damp cloth and wipe down surfaces. Try cleaning your kitchen countertops this way. After you wipe them down with baking soda, repeat with clean water. Baking soda is great at breaking up grease. If you find a grease stain on the floor or around the kitchen you can use baking soda and water to remove it. Just like with wiping down your countertops, use a mixture of baking soda and warm water to remove grease around the kitchen. Sometimes scuff marks can also be a problem around the kitchen tile floor. Use baking soda to safely remove scuff marks. This tip is safe to use even on no-wax floors.
