More Products You Can Make to Clean Your Home

Here are some more green cleaning recipes you can make with ingredients in your cupboard.

Water Ring Remover

Mix non-gel toothpaste and baking soda in one-to-one ratio. Apply to a damp cloth and rub with the grain on the water ring spot. Dry with another clean cloth. Polish with a soft cloth. Do not use on unfinished wood, lacquer, or antiques.

Dishwasher Freshener

Put 1/4 cup of powdered lemon or orange drink into the dishwasher's detergent cup and run a cycle. Gets rid of stains and leaves a fresh, citrus scent. Repeat if stains still persist.

Remove Grease

  • 1/2 cup of sudsy ammonia
  • 1 gallon of water
Dip a sponge or mop into the solution. Clean and rinse with fresh water. Works great on oven hoods and grills.

All-Purpose Cleaner & Deodorizer

  • 4 tbsp of baking soda
  • 1 qt of warm water
Dip sponge into the solution and wipe kitchen counters, appliances, and use to clean the refrigerator.

White Vinegar

Vinegar will cut grease, and remove mildew, odors, and some stains. Put a bit with lemon juice in small dishes around the house to absorb odors. Simmer it on the stove while cooking to prevent smells from lingering. Mix vinegar with water to remove carpet stains, or with salt and borax for a heavy-duty carpet cleaner. Two teaspoons in a liter of warm water will shine your windows. Use crumpled newspaper to clean without leaving streaks.
